Lights, Camera, Action! Hands-On Stop Motion Movie Making

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Join Nichole and Karen as we show how we work with groups of students in grade 4 and up to create stop motion movies. We’ll walk you through setting up stop motion projects with students, including storyboarding, narrative building and character generation. Then we’ll dive into making movies! We’ll bring some props, clay, paper, backgrounds and some small toys, plus tripods and a few iPads. You bring your own tablet or smartphone (that you can add apps to) plus your own props if you want, and we’ll work singly or in small groups to make a short movie. We’ll wrap up the session with a red carpet premiere of our finished movies. Stop motion movie making is easier than you think, and is within the reach of any student (or teacher)! Onion-skinning on apps makes lining up your next shot easy, and we’ll show you all the tips and tricks we’ve learned over the years for lighting, apps that work, tripods (and hacks that work if you don’t have tripods). Come join us for this half-day session, and leave a movie-maker!
